# BVG/LPP pension fund logic

> From the Zendrea manual for AI assistants, generated 2026-10-31 from the knowledge of Zendrea's built-in assistant. All topics: https://www.zendrea.ch/llms.txt; all of them in one file: https://www.zendrea.ch/llms-full.txt. Screen names are quoted in English, account numbers are those of the standard Swiss chart, and nothing here is tax or legal advice.

BVG/LPP is configured per employee in **Settings → Social Insurance → BVG** as dated entries: each holds the employee's and the employer's monthly contribution as the pension fund states them (its yearly confirmation or contribution list), valid from a date until the employee's next entry, so a raise from 1 July is a new entry from 1 July and the fund's new amounts each January are a new entry from 1 January. A salary uses the entry valid on its booking date, whatever the fiscal period, and is refused when none has started yet; rebooking an older salary keeps the amounts of its own date. The employer pays at least half. Above the contributions, the BVG tab lists the **pension fund documents**: what the fund sends (the affiliation contract, its confirmation of the contributions such as Swiss Life's "Confirmation de mandat", sent after each change and before each new year, or its contribution list), each with the date it applies from, a description, the insurer and the contract number. **"New document"** attaches the PDF from the fund's portal; in the web app it is read at once (star badge, Premium), which fills those four fields and lists each person with the date and both monthly amounts (a yearly list is divided by 12); the user corrects the fields and saves, and the reading is kept with the document. **Edit** corrects the fields later and can read the document again; deleting a document keeps the entries filled from it, with their amounts. Only PDFs with a text layer are read: the AHV numbers are hidden from the AI before the text is sent, which an image would not allow, so a scan or photo is kept without reading and its figures are typed. **"New BVG entry"** has a document picker: choosing the employee selects the newest document holding that person's row (matched by AHV number only, no AI at this point), and the date and both amounts fill from it; the entry keeps the document as its source (eye button on the row). A row that failed a check (amounts not on the person's lines, employer below half, implausible for the salary, the two readings disagreeing) fills nothing and the dialog says why; an employee without an AHV number in Zendrea cannot be matched. Entries can be edited, copied (same amounts, new date) and deleted; the status line says when an employee's first salary of the year has no entry, and informs when the year's amounts still continue from an earlier year. Salary bookings deduct the employee BVG share from net salary, credit both employee and employer BVG to **2272 BVG payable/clearing**, and debit the employer share to **5720 pension fund expense**.

The BVG tab of the **Social Insurance** report is **annual**, not quarterly. It reads account **2272** and shows yearly contributions posted, payments/clearings booked, and the current balance.

BVG payment/clearing works differently from AHV/VAT. The BVG payment modal books the full entered amount as **Debit 2272 / Credit selected payment-clearing account**. Use **1020 bank** for an actual bank payment and **1300 prepaid expenses** when clearing a prior-year prepayment into the current BVG year. Until the year's payment is booked, the payment button can be used even when the BVG balance is zero or negative; once it is booked, the button shows that payment (eye) and refuses another. The fund's bill of the year is kept on the BVG tab's row of the Social Insurance report as its receipt, before or after paying, and the pay dialog starts from it (see "Insurance receipts"); the fund's year-end statement goes on the correction row, and the Total row clears what is left (see "Settling the social insurance year").
